As if Jaren Sina wasn’t already one of the most talented guards in the class of 2013, his stock just sky-rocketed.
While his team may have not beaten St. Anthony (NJ) yesterday at the Hoop Group Tip-Off Showcase at Seton Hall, Sina created a name for himself with his shooting and clutch play. Despite the 62-50 loss to the Friars, Jaren played tremendous as he scored 22 points, along with 6 assists.
The best part about his performance were the coaches in attendance for it.
St. John’s, who already offered him, had Head Coach Steve Lavin on hand, along with assistants Rico Hines and Tony Chiles. Sina visited the Queens campus for Midnight Madness.
The entire Seton Hall staff was there to see him, including Head Coach Kevin Willard. Sina has been to two Pirates games this season and will attend his third on Wednesday against Dayton. He also took two unofficial visits to the Hall over the summer.
Rutgers Head Coach Mike Rice and Associate Head Coach David Cox also watched Sina play. The Scarlet Knights have already offered, along with Alabama, James Madison and La Salle.
UMass Head Coach Derek Kellogg attended, as did La Salle Head Coach Dr. John Giannini. Georgetown assistant Mike Brennan was there, along with Cincinnati assistant Darren Savino. The crowd was packed with coaches galore!
That night, there was a huge ripple effect as word quickly spread about Sina’s impressive performance. “After the game, I got a new offer from Cincinnati and new interest from Florida,” Sina said by text. “It’s awesome.”
Oddly enough, about ten minutes after he found out about a new offer. “Just got another offer from Rhode Island moments ago,” he stated. “I’m a little shocked but it’s a great feeling.” Jaren, who is only a sophomore, is considered a top sixty player in the his class by ESPN.
As the offers continue to pick up for Jaren Sina, so will his play, which has improved dramatically in the past year. He will be one of the best players in the country for 2013 when it’s all said and done.
